J.D. Greear

J.D. became the Lead Pastor at the Summit Church of Raleigh-Durham, NC in January of 2002. Before coming to work at the Summit he had worked among Muslims in Southeast Asia. He entered the Ph.D. program at Southeastern Seminary in 1999, graduating with a doctorate in Systematic Theology in 2003. He is also a graduate of the Word of Life Bible Institute, and a Government and Math graduate of Campbell University. He hails from Winston-Salem.

J.D. is married about 20 leagues over his head to his drop-dead gorgeous wife Veronica. They have 3 stunningly beautiful children, Kharis, Alethia, and Ryah. (In case you can’t tell, J.D. wrote this paragraph himself!)

J.D. sensed in 2002 that God was doing something spectacular in the RDU area, and believes that the explosive growth the church is currently experiencing is only the beginning! He believes the Summit Church has a special mission field in the local college campuses—of Duke, UNC, NCSU, and NCCU.

When J.D. is not at the church, he is playing with his daughters, or reading a book. By his own admission, he can be kind of a nerd. He also enjoys playing soccer and basketball, and is an avid fan of one of the Triangle teams which he is not allowed to name. When it comes to ACC basketball, this church is a house divided, you know.

* Magnolia Grill (only 5 star restaurant in NC, and located in the cultural capital of the South--that's right, DURHAM!
* 411 West (a truly unique Italian experience!)
* Angus Barn and Outback Steakhouse
